Blue Water Yacht Rally 2008

The Blue Water Yacht Rally is a venue for cruising yachtsmen to realize their dream of circumnavigating the globe in twelve months in their own yachts. This is a bi-annual rally that departs from and ends in Gibraltar. The rally, organized by Blue Water Rallies Limited, is composed of thirty-three yachts in a fleet and has a total of 18 stopovers.

This is not like any other yachting event because racing is definitely out of the picture. Skippers, crews, their families and friends will be sailing through some of the most spectacular places in the world at their own pace and leisure, largely under a social or clubhouse atmosphere.

Independent cruising is highly encouraged throughout the rally, although a dedicated and experienced support team will be available as backup to ensure a fun and safe voyage. The majority of participants are British, although there are also yachtsmen from countries like Germany, Australia, Italy, USA, France, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Turkey

This year and for the second time, Port Dickson will be one of the scheduled stopovers. When the yachts arrive for the stopover, the scenery will be painted with a breathtaking view of sails fluttering from 36- to 60-footer vessels. The rally has left Gibraltar in October 2007; it is expected to reach Port Dickson in November this year.
